The rammed-earth lodge with its arched roof

HOME BASE

The Ranch

In 2026 WINDRIDE moved to Xiaozhongdian in Shangri-La, at the foot of Bigu Tianchi.

On an open stretch of grassland we built a ranch out of timber, black steel, rammed earth and Tibetan rugs — somewhere to sleep, to eat, and to stare into the fire.

THE PADDOCK

The Paddock

Our own paddock inside a ring of timber rails, with mountains all around. Beginners take their first lesson here; the horses sunbathe, roll and rest.

THE STABLES

The Stables

A long, airy steel-framed stable where every horse has its own stall and hay. Each morning starts here: feed, grooming, checking every hoof.

THE TACK ROOM

The Tack Room

Saddles, bridles, saddle blankets and helmets live here. Every piece of tack is checked before every ride. That’s the rule.

The timber clubhouse

THE CLUBHOUSE

The Clubhouse

A two-storey timber house with the WINDRIDE horse on its wall. Climb the outside stair to a deck that looks over the whole ranch.

FIRESIDE

The Fireside Lounge

Floor-to-ceiling glass, a cast-iron stove and a few wooden chairs. Come back from the ride, warm up, drink something hot and watch the mountains.

THE PORCH

The Porch

Afternoon sun pours in through the gap in the mountains. A small table, two chairs — made for doing nothing at all.

THE TABLE

Kitchen & Table

An open kitchen and a long wooden table, tack and maps on the walls. Xinghe, one of our founders, spent seven years as a chef. You’ll eat well.

STAY

Stay the Night

Rammed-earth walls, an arched roof and a wall of glass. Lie in bed and the paddock is right outside.

THE FLAG

Our Flag

One name, in Tibetan and in Chinese. When the wind picks up it cracks above the ranch — that’s what WINDRIDE means.
